Unfortunately my computer believes that the network cable is unplugged.

The laptop can connect to the wireless network successfully but cannot access the internet. I just purchased a new linksys wrt54g wireless router ver. A network cable is unplugged the ethernet cable is plugged in to my router and my computer i also have a dsl modem connected to the wireless router.
